Avery Nubson, Art Director
Our co-owner and art director doesn’t talk much when you first meet him, but he makes up for it with deep technical knowledge and a knack for marshaling projects from start to successful finish.
While it’s true he leaves most of the words to people who specialize in that sort of thing, there’s no lack of depth here. Consider:
Avery taught himself how to write HTML code. No formal instruction, no mentor or teacher – just Avery and a drive to learn something new.
He has written, illustrated and published three children’s books and read them at dozens of elementary schools throughout the Upper Midwest. Award winning Pandas Paint in Pajamas, Even Pretty Girls Fart and Explorasaurus.
A logo he created for Over the Moon Books was featured in a 2010 Rockport Publishing LogoLounge book called “Animals and Mythology.” LogoLounge is a national juried logo exhibition.
Avery is also an accomplished cook. In 2010, he won third place in a national Ritz crackers and Guy Fieri recipe creation competition. We had to create a recipe from scratch and submit it online. His creation was a ground turkey and shrimp Asian meatball recipe.
Avery describes himself as someone with an intense drive to create, who appreciates people who are genuine, compassionate and dedicated to helping others. He also likes people who are like himself – they do what they say they’re going to do, and they do a quality job.
In 1998, Avery attended the Art Institute of Minnesota in Minneapolis, where he met his future wife, Amy. He graduated from Bemidji (Minn.) State University in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in design technology and a minor in fine art with a specialization in oil painting.
Since then he’s earned master’s-level certificates from Digital Marketer in all aspects of online marketing: content marketing, paid traffic, social media, conversion funnels, search marketing, email marketing, analytics and data, and conversion rate optimization.
